The Scout Ranks are:

Second Class

First Class

Star

Life

Eagle

The Boy Scout Handbook (BSHB) contains all  the necessary information that you should know

to work your way through the scout ranks to the rank of First Class Scout.

Once you are a First Class Scout you will be awarded a new, special, neckerchief that indicates

that you are now on the TRAIL TO EAGLE.

The Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Boy Scouts.  Less than 3% of all Boy Scouts attain

this rank but YOU CAN BE ONE OF THEM!

There are twenty-one (21) merit badges needed to qualify for the Eagle Scout rank.

You may work on merit badges while also working to earn lesser ranks (e.g., First Class

and below) BUT this is done ONLY with the PRIOR PERMISSION of the Scoutmaster.

Of the 21 merit badges, twelve (12) are required and all current Eagle Scouts share the

fact that they have all taken ten (10) of these same merit badges.

The required Eagle Scout merit badges are listed here.  When you click the link it will

open a new browser window and show you the requirements for each merit badge.
